| About | The National Youth Theatre was established in 1956 to offer young people the chance to develop their creative and social skills through the medium of the theatrical arts which includes acting and technical disciplines. It was the first company of its kind anywhere in the world, coining the phrase “Youth Theatre,” and providing a model of practice which has stimulated the creation of many youth theatre companies across the UK and beyond. Over the last 50 years, the Company has evolved significantly, although the underlying ethos and mission remains the same to this day. The National Youth Theatre is now an internationally acclaimed organisation, providing opportunities to all young people aged 13-21 in the UK, regardless of background. The Company has firmly established itself as the foremost youth arts provider and a beacon for all that is exemplary in creative excellence. | |
