About me
I'm a London-based performance maker, director and writer. I studied History & Politics, graduating with a PhD in Diplomatic History. I then lived in Eastern Europe (mostly in Romania) and Belgium, working as freelance writer and broadcast reporter before migrating to London in the early Noughties. I started my performative career in 2003 when featuring in various alternative poetry nights, and Cabarets - such as Speakeasy, Hip Heaven, Of Naked Design, Raison d'Etre, Hanky Panky, Kabarett or The Pas De Piaf Cabaret.
Soon after I started to produce several successful art projects which include performance poetry nights - such as 8 Women (2003), Love & Sex (2004, Studio 21), Write off at (2005, Corsica Studios) and Diasporic Sounds (2006, RADA) - and the monthly Experimental Cabaret, Sweet & Sour run at 291 Gallery between 2004 and 2006. Curating Sweet & Sour was a turning point in my artistry and while carrying on producing the Cinematic Cabaret I've been developping a strong interest in directing. Since I've focused on theatre making, fusing poetic text with movement, soundscape and/or visual art to conceive solo performance pieces and small-scale theatrical shows. I see my work as a diary that depicts the contradictory emotions I built up from my life experiences - past and present - in a permanent public display.
I'm currently developing my practice both as a performer and deviser, exploring the concept of installation art in the context of performance.
